Clodion, eigentlich Claude Michel (1738 in Nancy – 1814 in Paris), war ein französischer Bildhauer. Er gilt als ein wichtiger Vertreter der französischen Plastik des Louis-seize. Er weilte von 1762 bis 1771 in Rom und arbeitete unter anderem für den Herzog de La Rochefoucauld und für Katharina die Große, die vergeblich versuchte ihn zu einem Umzug nach Russland zu bewegen. Stattdessen zog es ihn nach Paris.
Neben offiziellen Aufträgen fertigte Clodion Skulpturen für Privatsammler, darunter zahlreiche Faune, Nymphen, Satyrn, Putten und grazile Mädchen, sowie edle Vasen, Uhren, Armleuchter und Kandelaber. Er arbeitete bevorzugt in Marmor und Terrakotta.

Clodion, actually Claude Michel (1738 in Nancy – 1814 in Paris), was a French sculptor. He is considered an important representative of French Louis-seize sculpture. He lived in Rome from 1762 to 1771 and worked for the Duke de La Rochefoucauld and for Catherine the Great, who tried in vain to persuade him to move to Russia. Instead, he was drawn to Paris.
In addition to official commissions, Clodion produced sculptures for private collectors, including numerous fauns, nymphs, satyrs, putti and graceful girls, as well as fine vases, clocks, arm candlesticks and candelabras. He favoured working in marble and terracotta.
